Labradorite & Prehnite chip & nugget necklace LABRADORITE Labradorite is a form of feldspar and is sometimes also known as spectrolite. Microscopic crystals from inside the stone, usually limonite or hematite, refract light across the surface creating the familiar colourful iridescence referred to as labradorescence. In was first discovered in 1770 by a missionary in Labrador, Canada, hence its name, it has since also been found in the Ukraine, Finland, Madagascar and Russia. The Red Paint people of Maine were familiar with this gem and its uses over one thousands years ago. METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES Labradorite is a highly protective stone. This crystal works on raising consciousness by connecting the individual to the universal energies, is referred to as, a “bringer of light” and stimulates positive natural energy. This gem is also known as the “temple of the stars” as its luminescence is derived from extraterrestrial origin and therefore brings galactic energies to the earth plane.
